I fell in love with Joo-Lee’s classes in 2011 when I first attended with my mum; they were a unique blend of dance and fitness, the music was uplifting and they gave me a sense of joy. I knew I’d found a community I wanted to be part of and in 2014 I started to work for Joo-Lee as a Communication and Engagement Officer, which gave me the chance to be more involved in SwingFit.
SwingFit helped me develop my confidence, reignited my childhood love of dance and reminded me that exercise can be fun and so in 2016, after relocating to the United States, I returned to education to study different genres of dance and to gain an associate degree in Fitness Leadership. During this time, I continued to follow SwingFit and when the world was in lockdown in 2020, I discovered that Joo-Lee was offering online teacher training and jumped at the opportunity.
Since returning to the UK, I have continued my SwingFit training and am now looking forward to launching my own classes in the North East. Being part of the SwingFit community, dancing to joyful music and meeting friendly people has had a huge impact on my life and improved my physical and mental wellbeing. I can’t wait to share this with others!
